Social responsibility - part of every day at Siteimprove
Siteimprove’s social responsibility to customers, employees, the environment and our business is something we take seriously.
Just so there's no doubt about this, in 2010 we affiliated with the UN initiative Global Compact, and making an annual commitment to announcing publicly which responsible initiatives we've been working on throughout the year. In 2011, we were proud to present Siteimprove's first responsibility report, which provides an insight into the socially responsible initiatives we implemented in 2010. Also in the report is a list of which activities and goals we've set ourselves for 2011-12. It should be clear that we act properly and are responsible working partners. Siteimprove works with sustainability in three areas:
1) Social sustainability
As a service provider, the knowledge and skills of our employees is our raison d'être and key to our ability to provide the best service and results for our customers.
Siteimprove strives to:
- Make sure our employees are satisfied, healthy and are able to properly balance work and private life.
- Contribute to the promotion of digital self-service solutions across Denmark.
- Contribute to providing the various types of users with disabilities (such as the blind, sight impaired and dyslexic) with easy access to both public and private web pages.
- Support local society and contribute to the social recognition of passionate bright sparks in the public sector;
Several times a year, Siteimprove hands over a cheque worth DKK 10,000 to a bright spark working passionately within web management in the public sector. This cheque is earmarked for voluntary work in Danish local government, and its recipients are chosen by the passionate web manager.
2) Environmental sustainability
Siteimprove would like to minimise any harmful impact our activities might have on the environment, which is why we have entered into a climate partnership with DONG Energy.
Siteimprove strives to:
- Work continuously on reducing the energy consumption and carbon footprint of ourselves and our customers by coming up with actual solutions in our daily life and for the future - which is why we have entered a climate partnership with DONG Energy.
- Offer harvested solutions, so we don't allow our customers' carbon footprint to grow by the use of our products.
- Promote environmental consciousness among our employees and ensure that they are aware of our policy for green shopping, for example when purchasing IT-equipment and office supplies.
- Dispose of waste in an environmentally responsible manner.
3) Economic sustainability
We work in a structured way with CSR, and believe that responsible behaviour towards society and the environment plays a part in ensuring a profitable business in the long and short term.
Siteimprove strives to:
- Provide services that make public websites more effective and quality assured, so personal as well as telephone contact can be switched to digital self-service solutions.
- Provide services that make our customer's websites more effective and quality assured, through work tools promoting self-service solutions.
- Strengthen our business by working toward responsible goals and being at the cutting edge of sustainable development, which we believe is the principle for IT-firms of the future.
Reporting
Siteimprove regularly publishes news concerning our sustainable contributions. In addition, we publish a status report once a year (we call it COP - Communication On Progress) on our efforts in the area of sustainability.
