In July 2007 Siteimprove launched a new product called SiteCheck which checks for broken links, spelling errors, accessibility issues and email addresses on websites. The product provides a single platform web masters can use to resolve these issues and has proved highly popular with customers. Here is the story of one SiteCheck customer.

Background

As a public sector organization Shepway District Council needs to demonstrate it is getting value for money from suppliers. With this in mind they decided to take a 14 free day trial of SiteCheck to compare it with the service they were using to check for errors on their site.

Just two working days after contacting SiteImprove they were able to log in and try out SiteCheck on their whole site exactly as if they were already a customer. The Council was immediately impressed.

The right product or not?

During the trial Shepway were able to evaluate the full functionality of each SiteCheck module and compare them to their existing product. Siteimprove also provided a personal walkthrough of SiteCheck features and answered any questions as they came up in the trial period. Very quickly it became clear that SiteCheck provided a much more productive and user friendly experience than the product the Council was using at the time.

One very simple feature which stood out most was that when the Council corrected errors and used SiteCheck to recheck them they were removed from the to-do list. This left an updated list of tasks to carry out and no need to remember what had already been done.

The customer experience

By opting for SiteCheck’s five day automatic reporting feature Shepway ensured they greatly reduced the chances of errors building up. This allows the Council to keep on top of small issues before they become big problems. Managers are pleased they can see progress being made. Just as helpfully, SiteCheck has already identified issues unknown to the Council previously.
